climate
Whether you visit the Costa Blanca during the summer or winter months, you will enjoy
the mild Mediterranean climate. The highest average temperature in August is
around 26° Celsius, although the temperature can reach as high as 40° Celsius
during this month. In January the temperature is a pleasant 11° Celsius. The
sun shines for approximately 3,000 hours per year and the period March to
December has the most sunshine. The average precipitation is only 330mm of rain
per year but it can be quite windy during spring and autumn The average sea
water temperature is between 12°C and 32°C.
Air humidity is a very comfortable 60 and 70 percent. The months with
least rain are July, August, and September, but even during these
months it is only likely to rain for as little as five days.
Of course the Costa Blanca is best known for its sunny weather. The Mediterranean
climate and clean air are very healthy. In big cities pollution and high noise
levels are often the cause of stress and allergies. The Costa Blanca region is
the ideal place to be free from all of this. The high evaporation results also
in mild winters. The long summer days with low rainfall are the typical climatic
conditions of the area. Salt lakes create a micro climate which also has a positive
effect on health in the province of Alicante.
The climatic differences between the coastal area and the countryside are very
small, but the regions of high altitude have stronger winds, more rain, and
lower temperatures in winter.
