Visitors to the city of Alicante will get lasting impressions of the historic architecture. There are numerous religious, civil and military buildings as well as memorials and important archeological sites. The cultural life of Costa Blanca does show a rich diversity all the year round and in all the places in the area.
The churches San Nicols, Santa Maria, La Asegurada, El Tossal de Manises and Santa Barbara are some of the favored places in the city of Alicante. El Misteri, La Dama, L'Alcudia are the famous places of Elche.
The castle "Castillo Santa Barbara" is among one of the most important historical monuments. It is the cultural center of the city of Alicante with all its museums and exhibitions.
The old building and museum "La Asegurada" does host an art gallery of the twentieth century. More than 160 artefacts are on exhibit there
The cathedral of "San Nicolás" and the church of "Santa Maria" are lying at the foot of the mountain Benacantil and were built in the XIII. and XVII. century. The mountain itself is worth a hike because of its breathtaking view of the city of Alicante with all its historic buildings.
An archeological site which is opened to visitors can be found at the place called "Lucentum". Lucentum is at the foot of the mountain "Tossal de Manises" close to the beach "La Albufereta". The Site is the place of an historically important Iberian-Roman settlement of the fourth century b.C.!
The social centre of the municipality of Torrevieja, the "Urbanisation Los Angeles", is famous because of its museum of the "easterweek Tómas Valcàrcel" and the cultural arena The temple of the archpriest is an attraction because of the holy painting of the "Purísma Concepción " which is admired as the patron saint of the city.
Most villages of the province have surprising collections of old and impressing art treasures which are always open to the public.
